What types of tires are available?
Tires that come on new vehicles typically fall into one of three categories, including summer tires that are often found on high-performance models and deliver the best traction in warm weather, all-season tires that deliver adequate traction in wet and dry weather, and all-terrain tires that are suited for off-roading outside of Covington. Winter tires are an option for optimal traction in ice and snow, but they do not come standard on new vehicles.
How do I choose the right tires for my vehicle?
Choosing the right tires depends on how you use your vehicle and what type of vehicle you drive. Summer tires are typically reserved for sporty sedans and hatchbacks, while all-terrain tires are popular among truck owners. In addition, many SUV drivers may find all-season tires suitable for their daily commutes and road trips near Harrison.
What do the numbers on the sidewall mean?
The primary set of numbers on the side of your tires match the width, aspect ratio, and diameter of the wheel in inches. For example, a tire that is 225/45R18 has a width of 225 millimeters, a sidewall of 45 percent the width, and can fit on an 18-inch wheel. Other numbers along the side of the tire are used for the date or the load index and speed rating.
How often should I rotate my tires?
Most Kia models have a recommended tire rotation interval of every 7,500 miles or every oil change. For the most accurate information, contact our service center in Cincinnati or consult your Owner's Manual.
When should I replace my tires?
Your tires should be replaced when the lowest tread depth reaches 2/32 of an inch or the tires are between 5 and 10 years old. If you see bubbles, cracks, or wires sticking out, replace your tires immediately.
What are the signs that I need new tires?
Some of the noticeable signs that you need new tires include poor handling, sliding in wet conditions, increased braking distance, or loud road noise.
How do I check my tire pressure?
Nearly every new Kia model has a digital Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that measures the tire pressure periodically. Data for this system can be accessed in the center display of the gauge cluster when you're driving. If you don't have a TPMS system, you can use a traditional pressure gauge.
What is the difference between run-flat tires and regular tires?
Run-flat tires allow drivers to continue driving at a reduced speed for extended distances. Run-flat tires are common in vehicles that don't have a spare tire or repair kit. Run-flat tires are more expensive than standard tires but offer improved durability thanks to a thick, heat-resistant sidewall.
What are the benefits of tire balancing and alignment?
Tire balancing and alignment are two services that can help you improve tire longevity and safety in changing conditions near Florence. Balancing requires adding weights near the edge of your wheel to prevent oscillation, while alignments adjust suspension components for optimal handling.
